Significance of the Peetha

  • The Maya Devi Temple is one of the Siddhapeethas where the navel (nabhi) of Sati is believed to have fallen. It is a very ancient and highly venerated temple, forming the spiritual foundation of Haridwar.

This temple is one of the three ancient temples still intact in Haridwar, the others being Narayan-Shila and Bhairava Temple. Devotees believe that worshipping here fulfills all desires and grants liberation (moksha).
